SOAP Making is a family legacy that started in earnest in West Virginia in the late 1800's with the birth of Mrs. Anna Fancy Hance's ninth child, Elizabeth Anna Hance. Elizabeth had very sensitive skin which became irritated often. To prevent the irritation, Anna began to use different emollients in her soap to help subside the terrible itching that Elizabeth endured. Anna's soaps and creams were made with love and care. She made soaps using plant bi-products and her fragrances came from flowers and spices. Like so many people of her time she believed in herbal remedies to cure many skin disorders.
She often would give away her soaps, lotions and, creams as gifts to friends and family. Many of them insisted that she should sell her products. The legacy of making soap has been carried on through Elizabeth and her children and grandchildren.
The family legacy lives on through Opulent Spirit. Although Opulent Spirit has entered the computer age and can be found on the worldwide web, we still continue to make our soaps, lotions and, creams with the love and care that our great, great grandmother, Anna Hance used so long ago.
Today, our process is less daunting and probably more fun, which allows us to be more creative and productive with the quality and specificity of our product. We combine old age ingenuity with new age creativity.
Our homemade products have proven themselves to be of equal or greater value to our clients than most commercial brands. We care about our customers and their need for excellence in the products for which they search so hard to find. We do not believe that everyone is the same. If a customer is in need of a specific kind of soap for minor skin issues (which are not medical) we make every endeavor to create a product specifically for their needs.
Anna and Elizabeth never enjoyed the luxury of a spa, however our products are spa quality. Our butters and scrubs leave your skin soft and sensuous. Our body washes and lotions speak to your senses.
We have come a long way from Anna's kitchen and back porch in West Virginia. We have offices in Lithonia, GA and New York City. Although we are still new to the spa world we are growing.
Keeping in tune with our ancestry, our soaps are all natural and contain no animal bi-products. We use dried flowers for many of our soap scrubs. We use essential oils and fragrance oils for our scents. Some of the emollient additives we use are Vitamin E, Jojoba and Argan oils. These additives are one of the reasons our soaps and lotions leave your skin feeling so soft.

Shipping Policy
Orders will be shipped UPS.
During busy times of the year, Opulent Spirit strives to ship all orders as soon as possible. However, there are some times when it will take 1-5 days for your order. We appreciate your patience and are constantly working to reduce our shipping lead times.
Shipping charges on online orders are estimated based on product weight and your shipping location. If the shipping weight varies from the actual UPS calculations, you will be contacted to approve the change before we ship your order.
Return Policy
If you are dissatisfied with your order for any reason, you can return your items for a prompt refund or exchange. Refunds for items returned within thirty days of the purchase date will be credited in the same form as the original payment type. No merchandise returns accepted after 30 days from the original shipping date. The customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
It is the customer's responsibility to notify Opulent Spirit immediately of any errors within the order. We recommend that you carefully check the contents of your order for any damages that may have occurred during shipment. Merchandise returned 15-30 days from the original date of shipping will receive store credit for the exact amount of the merchandise returned.
We will issue a full refund to your credit card for the price of any item that you return if your return is received within 30 days of the PURCHASE date. If you are returning a gift, we will issue the refund directly to the gift recipient in the form of an online store credit. Please make sure to enter all of your information, including your e-mail address, phone number and mailing address. We regret that we are unable to refund original shipping costs and return shipping costs. We also regret that we do not do refunds for bars of soap or samples.

What are the soap ingredients?
A. We use:
Olive Oil is obtained by pressing the fruit of the olive tree. It is highly nutritive, contains protein, vitamins and minerals. It forms a protective and breathable film on the skin that moisturizes and holds moisture to the skin.
Coconut Oil is expressed from coconut kernels and promotes a wonderful fluffy lather.
Sweet Almond Oil is pressed from seeds of the almond tree. It has great nutritional value for all skin types.
Shea Butter is pressed from the fruit of the African karite tree. It is extremely therapeutic, soothing and moisturizing and contains vitamin A and E.
Cocoa Butter is expressed from the roasted seed of the cocoa bean. It is high in vitamin E. It protects, softens and lubricates the skin.
Avocado Oil (face soap, baby soap, lotion) is made from the pulp of the avocado plant. It is rich and therapeutic and contains vitamins A, C, D and E, proteins, beta-carotene, lecithin, fatty acids and the "youth mineral" potassium.
Jojoba Oil is technically not an oil, but a liquid wax. It closely resembles natural human sebum (the natural coating our body produces to protect the skin and keep it supple). The reason jojoba oil works so well is that it actually penetrates the skin because it is accepted as sebum.
And many other ingredients which are healthy, earth friendly products.
Are your soaps moisturizing?
A. Yes. They are as moisturizing as soap can get.
What are essential oils?
A. Essential oils are aromatic and highly concentrated oils extracted from plants that carry beneficial properties. They are completely natural and are processed by steam distillation. Some citrus oils are made during a process known as "cold pressed" where the oil is pressed out of the rind.
Do you use synthetic fragrances in your soap?
A. We use pure and natural essential oils in all of our products whenever they are available. Yes we do use some cosmetic quality fragrance oils in some of our products. Our labels list each ingredient accordingly. Many of our products are made only with naturally derived ingredients and scents.

Lotions:
Shea Butter lotion, Vitamin E, Sweet Almond Oil, aloe vera concentrate, vegetable glycerin, jojoba oil, emu oil, color, fragrances.
Body Butters:
Argan oil, Vegetable Glycerin, jojoba oil, aloe vera gel, shea butter, Mango butter, Avocado butter, Tea Tree oil, color, primrose oil, sweet almond oil, emu oil* , essentials oils as fragrances.
* This is a specialty ingredient and is only used in certain products or when requested.

Recently I tried some lotion Al & Peni gave me on my dry facial skin that always haunts me in the winter and I noticed a big difference after the first application. I purposely didn't apply the second coat the next day to see if my dry skin would return, as it does with Carol's Daughter, but I was pleasantly surprise. So I applied the lotion again (you only need very little) and my face has been looking good.

I discovered this little gem while at the Circle of Sisters Expo with my mother last weekend. I smelled their Mango Melon body butter and immediately fell in love! The scent was heavenly and the texture was light, fluffy and not at all greasy. Apparently, many other ladies found it delectable too because when I got ready to buy some there wasn't any left. I wasn't too disappointed though, because the Rose body butter (its not on the site but contact them if youre interested, if you like rose scent youll love it) was just as lovely and 10% of the proceeds of sales of any of their Pink Rose products will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation .
